Mayor Island Tours

After several months of being closed to the public, Mayor Island (Tuhua) is now open again. To promote this Adventure Bay of Plenty and Sea Trek have booked the cabins and tent sites on Mayor Island (Tuhua) for the 9th - 11th and 16th - 18th of April.

Mayor Island is the jewel of the Bay of Plenty and is a wildlife and ocean reserve. Offering amazing walks, crystal clear waters for swimming and diving and an incredible coastline including caves that are just begging to be explored by kayak. There is no other place quite like Tuhua.
Sea Trek has just recently received a dolphin, whale and seal encounter licence and along with Adventure Bay of Plenty it can provide close encounters either by swimming or kayaking. At the very least you will get to see seals sunning themselves on the rocks and even the possibility that they will enter the water and swim around our kayaks.

We are offering a special deal for these two weeks.

All activities including, kayaking, walks, and if nature is kind to us dolphin and seal encounters.

Island Adventures

Adventure Bay of Plenty offers tours to some of the most spectacular island locations in New Zealand. Imagine kayaking in crystal clear waters, through caves, along rugged coastlines and deserted golden sand beaches. Interact with the dolphins and seals that regularly visit the marine reserves surrounding these islands. Listen to the history and culture as told by the locals.

Matakana Island

Matakana Island is privately owned by local Maori and access onto the island other than the beaches is prohibited. Adventure Bay of Plenty has been given an exclusive to provide activities on Matakana. Explore the island by horseback or Clydesdale drawn carriage ride, Marae visits, a traditional Hangi meal, culture shows performed by local children, overnight accomodation... the list goes on.

Mayor Island (Tuhua)

Kayak through caves, holes in the rock. See the rich black obsedian prized by early Maori for tools, weapons and jewellery. Get up close to dolphins and seals who regularly visit Mayor Island. Take a walk and see the largest Pohutakawa tree in the world. Visit crater lakes, swim and snorkel in the safe calm bays. We recommend two days to ensure you you see all the island has to offer.
